If you’re new to blogging, the landscape may look a little daunting. You may feel a little intimidated by bloggers prolifically blogging and doing a really good job of it to boot. Don’t worry, with a bit of practice and acclimatization to the format, you’ll be rubbing shoulders with the best of them in no time.
What’s the first thing a reader sees?
Your title, right? Well, actually, probably not. The first thing your reader will see (if you’ve done it right) is your tweet, but we’ll come back to that in another post. Let’s for now assume your reader has come directly to your blog and is reading the long list of headlines on your homepage looking for something to jump out. Let’s make every single one as catchy as possible. We want your reader to want to read every single post on your blog. We want him to bookmark this for later because he can’t get enough of all the amazing title leaping off the screen at him.

Keep your reader guessing with a concise intro
Next, a short intro will let your reader know what the post is about and if they want to read on. Make your intro interesting enough to pull your reader in without giving too much away. Don’t forget to use the read more widget, it keeps your homepage tidy and more importantly your reader has to take action (with a click) to read the whole post. This intention to read more is a commitment, you’ve got him now.
Let’s have all the juicy details!
Now, get into the body of your blog post, 3-4 paragraphs is ideal. Your post should be between 300 – 500 words, this is long enough to get found in Google and short enough not to bore your reader.Halfway into a blog post, I like to introduce a data capture box, like this:
Finish with a call to action encouraging readers to comment, share and link back to your post.
